Testimonials
"Manchester Shoulder Clinic were fantastic and improved my shoulder which kept dislocating due to previous injury and was unstable. I do a lot of sailing which aggravated the injury and became problematic when out in the water. Christine was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. In particular she isolated the problem and then used various techniques and exercises which linked in to the movements I would encounter while sailing as well as every activities such as shopping. This proved key to the stability of the muscles surrounding my shoulder. Once my shoulder felt stable Chris then concentrated on strengthening the muscles through activities such as boxing and using weights. I was really pleased with the rapidity of the results without the need for an operation." Sally "I visited Manchester Shoulder Clinic after suffering with shoulder pain for about 7 months. Christine was thoroughly professional and patient and worked with me through my rehab. Before I saw Christine I was in a lot of pain and couldn't do any sport. Since having physiotherapy I am now able to sleep on my shoulder and back and the pain has largely gone. I am also able to play sport mainly swimming, tennis and golf." Stephen B Lewis "History: Shoulder problems over 11 years. 2001 Capsular Shrinkage never really felt it had worked, 3 years ago pain completely controlled life, unable to work or carry out most day to day activities such as washing own hair, ironing, driving, cooking, cleaning etc. Give varying diagnosis tried every possible pain control and suffered the side effects. Luckily I discovered Lennard Funk and his team May 2009. Having suffered for 11 years with various shoulder conditions and visiting numerous physiotherapists my trust and belief in them being truthful was none existent. How that has all changed, Kathleen Tatlow has now become my Guardian Angel. Her knowledge, dedication and commitment to each individual she sees is second to none. Having had my operation by the wonderful Lennard Funk he advised me due to my long term suffering to have my rehabilitation with Kathleen. It meant a 45 minute journey for each visit but it was so worth it. I came out of surgery in an ER Sling with my arm away from my body at 90 degrees, one week late I had my follow up appointment with Kat. I won't lie, after that visit I thought she was crazy and didn't know what she was doing. The sling was off - I'm now in the biggest panic. Let's get some movement going, stand in front of the bed arms out slightly in front and rest onto them. Movement - the pain was unbearable with tears streaming down my face Kat made me move. Over the weeks the physio routine made me cry, my arm wouldn't work unassisted, which is really scary at the time you can't imagine the pain ever going and things being normal. Kat carefully gives you little challenges like let's get that arm touching your stomach, next week walk in and shake my hand then eventually you are going to end up saluting me! Because of the way Kat motivates you and gives her support you set yourself on a mission to make her proud of you! You have numerous panics along the way. The pain could be so intense - is this really working at making be better! An email to Kat reassures you that this new pain is a good thing, after so many years of being in pain I guess that this way my hardest hurdle. On Kat's approval 5 weeks pos op I walked up Snowdon in aid of Cancer Research UK - even I couldn't believe that I did it! The rehabilitation with Kat involves treating your whole body so get ready for a gym ball and get used to standing up tall. Usually with shoulder conditions comes horrendous posture and rounded shoulders and over compensation on your good side. Kat works on your core stability you don't realise how affected it has become until Kat points it out to you. Where am I now! Well six months on I have got my life back to a level that I could never have imagined. In my opinion it is due to the care and support I have received from Kat. I am so thankful that I found her as both my GP and I feel that other Physio's probably wouldn't have got me to where I am now. I am playing tennis, swimming, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting and sad as it may sound loving being able to do my own ironing and cleaning. I really am standing tall and family and friends say that I am unrecognisable. If you are reading this with pain in your shoulders I promise you Kat will have an answer and if surgery is required you are equally as safe in the amazing hands of Lennard Funk. I feel confident for the future knowing that Kat will always be there for a reassuring email or even an appointment. I don't really need to see her anymore but my appointment today is to impress her and to make her go WOW! More importantly it's for me to say a really massive thank you for her commitment, dedication, support and friendship throughout these last six months and believe me Kat really does know what she is doing! - Clare Marsh I have had shoulder problems for 3 years and I now feel that they are behind me. I have seen a number of physiotherapists over this period and feel that the techniques used by Kat at MSC are both unique and very effective. After having surgery in Dec 07 I had initially planned on boxing again in June/ July 08 but because of the speed in which I have recovered from surgery I am now planning on returning in May 08. This I believe is largely due to the effective treatment I have received from MSC. I would highly recommend them to anybody who is seriously looking to rid themselves of serious or minor shoulder problems. Jamie Moore - Irish Light Middleweight Champion I visited Manchester Shoulder Clinic after suffering with shoulder pain for about 7 months. Christine was thoroughly professional and patient and worked with me through the rehab. Before I saw Christine I was in a lot of pain, I couldn't sleep and I couldn't do any sport. Since having physiotherapy I am now able to sleep on my shoulder and back and the pain has largely gone. I am also able to play sport mainly swimming, tennis and golf and I believe if I continue with the exercise programme Christine has given me I will make a full recovery - Stephen Lewis. Following my rehabilitation from shoulder surgery and subsequent discharge from your clinic. I write to express my sincere thanks for the way I was handled by yourself and Mr Funk. The pre-operative physio I received from yourself was not only invaluable in preventing the need for surgery on my right shoulder, but played a major part in the speedy post-operative recovery and function of my left shoulder. Your patience and professionalism are only outshone by the genuine commitment and care you extend to the recovery of your patients. May I take this opportunity to wish you every success in your future endeavours. Yours Sincerely, Marc Bridges. Kat Tatlow is a physiotherapist on a mission. A mission to treat you like a human being because you are human and you are unique. Her treatment plan for you will be just that, unique and personalised to you. Three years ago she helped me back to full fitness after a very complex shoulder operation. We did it together and I felt that she helped me set my own goals, kept me in charge of my shoulder and helped and supported me back to full health. What makes Kat so different is that she treats the whole of you, not just the shoulder. She helped me through the ups and downs particularly the down days when I thought I wasn't going to get better. Right through the rehabilitation she educated me at every opportunity and I learnt so much about how to keep my shoulder fit for the rest of my life. Rehabilitation is a life long process. Kat is just simply brilliant - Sue Page NTGH If you had a shoulder injury or surgery, Kathleen is the physiotherapist to help you gain optimum recovery. Following a shoulder injury and surgery myself, I received treatment from 6 "physio terrorists". After treatment I was suffering more and I began to feel very negative and despondent about my recovery. Then following several visits to Kathleen, everything seemed to be improving. I actually looked forward to attending my therapy. Although I had some discomfort, I could feel the benefit of what Kathleen was teaching me and for the first time I began to feel positive results. A good physiotherapist, who gives you confidence, understands your problems and inspires you to carry out appropriate exercises with positive results, is essential for an optimum recovery. I can't offer Kathleen enough praise for helping me towards a full recovery, so if you're looking for similar results then you can trust Kathleen to give you the best chance - Jane Pickstock I saw Kathleen after I suffered with a frozen shoulder in the summer of 2008 since then I have recommended Kathleen to lots of friends and colleagues. I had tried other treatments but it was only after I visited the Manchester shoulder clinic, that I felt I was on a steady path to being able play the violin again without being in excruciating pain. I had virtually lost the use of my right arm and the pain was keeping me awake at night. Kathleen was thorough and kind which gave me the confidence to follow her exercises easily. It was remarkable how quickly I was able to return to work and have complete use of my arm again. I am hugely grateful to her for her help, and glad that so many people I know have also benefited from her expertise. Thank you! Rebecca Thompson - Violinist |
